About Us
Venturi Aeration, Inc. was founded in 1988 by Gary L. Smith as an innovative technology and products company serving the water and wastewater industry. Initially, the company focused on potable water remediation projects, but rapidly became a leader in the area of septage treatment and in conditioning raw sewage and sludge. Our technology for septage conditioning increases the efficiency of primary clarifiers by enhancing solids removal and reducing BOD. The company seeks to educate the industry about the paradigm shift created with the introduction of new technology–it requires new thinking. For example, the Hydro-Vac oxygenator’s oxygen uptake rate for BOD reduction parallels that of pure oxygen and significantly out performs diffused aeration. It is rapidly becoming the standard for sludge oxygenation. The company has also become a leader in sludge dewatering and offers a system that will produce 45+% dry cake.
Because of its belief in its own technologies the company financed and established a separate operating entity, Venturi Aeration of MA, Inc., in Lowell, Massachusetts. This company dewaters food waste grease from various food service operations and in doing so provides the only viable solution for food waste grease disposal. The resulting dry “grease” powder has an environmentally responsible beneficial reuse.
Mr. Smith believes that his company must maintain the highest ethical standards in its product and technology offerings, and he firmly states that everything that the company does must conform to this ethical belief. He assures that all of his employees ascribe to this standard and belief.
